About Prof. Iskandar Abdullah (PhD)pic.jpg (7317 bytes)

Iskandar Abdullah is currently the Director of Business Development (under the office of the Chancelory), University Putra Malaysia. He is also a faculty member with Department of Management and Marketing at UPM where he teaches marketing courses to both the undergraduate and MBA students.

Iskandar obtained his Ph.D. in Marketing from Micheal Smurfit Graduate School Business University College Dublin, Ireland. He got his BBA from Western Michigan University and an MBA from Central Michigan University, USA where he graduated with honors and initiated into a society known as Sigma Iota Epsilon. (Similar to Phi Kappa Beta in the liberal arts)

Iskandar has taught marketing courses for many years including 3 years in Ireland and as a guest lecturer in Hong Kong. He has also written several articles on marketing including 2 chapters in a book entitled 'Marketing Communications in Ireland' edited by Tony Meenaghan and Paul O'Sullivan in 1995. The book is now used as a basic text for an MBA program in most business schools in Ireland. He has also consulted with many major foreign and local companies in Malaysia. He also sits as a Board of Director for several companies where the University has got an equity or interests.

Besides being an academician, Iskandar has worked for several years in the advertising industry. He was previously an Account Director with J. Walter Thompson in Kuala Lumpur and assigned to handle international clients in the Asia Pacific Region. Later on he was appointed as Managing Director for Bloomingdale Advertising in Kuala Lumpur before re-joining the University in 1989.
